Here We Go Again: Favre Will Return

Well... with the report that Brett Favre had ankle surgery by ESPN's Chris Mortensen, we can pretty much assume that Favre will be returning for his 100th 20th year in the league.

Now, it is no secret that I am an avid Favre fan, so I am very excited to see him come back. He had one of his best statistical seasons last year. The Vikings almost made the Super Bowl (if not for the his INT's and the numerous fumble against the Saints), and the Vikings have one of the best defenses still this year.

So, why is this almost a sure bet? Well last year, Favre made it known that he was not a fan of surgery, and if he was going to come back, he would need it. Well, he got surgery on his shoulder, and he came back.

Again, this year he said if he was to come back he would need surgery on his ankle, and again, he got it done.

For a man who is not a fan of surgeries, getting them done says a lot.

Is it a smart move by Favre? I say yes. Many, many athletes have to undergo surgery to continue in their sport, and being he 40 and hasn't had that many in his career, I think he will be okay.

With star running back Adrian Peterson and emerging wide receiver Percy Harvin and Sidney Rice at his disposal, Favre has one of the most explosive offenses in the league. They lost Chester Taylor, but they picked up Toby Gerhart in the draft. Many people are not sure about this pick, and while he can't necessarily catch like Taylor can, he can fight for the short yardage. Seeing as Peterson is the fumble king, that is a good sign.

So here is to prospect of Favre making his return and continuing to increase his records (including interceptions).

Best Free Agent Class Ever

As the Suns face off against the Lakers tonight in L.A., one thing weighs down on most basketball fans, executives, and even players minds. And it has nothing to do with Phoenix or L.A.

One of the best free agent classes in the history of the NBA is opening on July 1, and people simply want to know one thing: Where will LeBron play?

Four great teams are still playing for the NBA championship, and while this shouldn't take away anything from those teams, it does. James, Wade, Bosh, Boozer, Nowitzki, Stoudamire, McGrady could all switch teams this off season.

Ok, I'm joking about McGrady's importance and Nowitzki will probably stay in Dallas, and there is a good chance Boozer may stay in Utah. Stoudamire has been talks of trade and what not for awhile now, so that has lost a lot of it's appeal.

So basically it comes down to LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh.

LeBron hasn't been able to win a championship in Cleveland, in spite of having the best regular season record the past two years. Wade and Miami haven't made it out of the 1st round since winning the championship in 2006, when Shaq was still there. His Heat team even had the worst record (15-67) in the 2007-2008 season. Chris Bosh, well Bosh just needs out of Toronto.

LeBron is the most coveted of the three. New York, New Jersey, Chicago, Miami and Cleveland want LeBron, or in Cleveland's case, want LeBron to stay. The Clippers could be added to that mix too. There is an appeal to each place too.

New York is the biggest stage. New Jersey might be able to offer up John Wall, plus LBJ's good friend Jay-Z. Chicago has Noah and Rose. Miami, if they could keep Wade, offers one of the best 1-2 combos ever. Cleveland is in James' back yard. He has played there for 7 years. Loyalty plays a factor in there too.

So where does he go? Well, I'd love to see him play with my favorite player, Dwayne Wade. Not only are they two of the best players of this generation, but could you imagine those two playing together?

More realistically though is probably either Chicago or New York. Chicago has two great players in Joakim Noah and Derrick Rose. Henrich can shoot, Deng can play down low, and LeBron would make this team an almost instant championship caliber team.

New York has a little more work. They don't have all that talent. McGrady will most likely not be there after this year. One thing about the Knicks though is they have enough money to sign multiple big free agents. Don't want to play in Miami Wade? Well get LeBron and come play in New York. Or, Bosh could add a big man factor that LeBron hasn't quite had yet, and that would help. Still, this team would need some time.

So where will he go? Honestly, I don't think anyone has the slightest idea. Not even James. He has until July 1 till teams can talk to him "officially".

So let's just sit back, enjoy the ride, and see how much money can be thrown around this off season. Oh yeah, and enjoy the rest of the playoffs.
